CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Ballet: ballet is the fundamental of any dance genre. Dancers focus on improving technique. Dancers begin with a class appropriate for their current ability, and gradually progress into more advanced levels at the discretion of their instructor.

            Levels:  I, II, III, IV, V

Tap: tap requires a great deal of coordination. This class teaches steps, sounds, rhythms, and movement.  Dancers begin with a class appropriate for their current ability, and gradually progress into more advanced levels at the discretion of their instructor.

            Levels: I, II/III, IV/V

Jazz: An upbeat dance style which incorporates ballet technique into movements dancing to pop style music.  Dancers begin with a class appropriate for their current ability, and gradually progress into more advanced levels at the discretion of their instructor. Requirement: Ballet must be taken alongside this class.

            Levels:  I, II, III, IV, V

Hip Hop: a structured method of learning various hip hop dance movements and styles in a fun-filled and energetic environment accompanying hip hop and pop music. This class teaches hip hop movements and technique, while also instilling rhythm and precision in the dancer’s muscle memory.

            Levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced

Contemporary: a form of dance that uses ballet, jazz, lyrical, and modern technique, and improves the dancer’s emotional execution and musicality. Requirement: Ballet must be taken alongside this class.

          Levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced

Musical Theater: a fun class for dancers to explore acting, emotions, and storytelling all through dancing! Dancers will get to learn and experience scripts, lip-syncing, audition processes, and broadway dancing. Requirement: Ballet must be taken alongside this class.

          Levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced

Stretch and Technique: a class that focuses on strength, flexibility, and technique! No choreography will be taught in this class. There are no levels for this class, however it is recommended for dancers currently enrolled in level II classes and up at CSOD, or dancers on school teams aspiring to perfect their technique!          

Tap/ballet combo: a beginner class exploring a combination of tap and ballet geared towards 3-5 year old children.

Creative Movement: a class geared towards 1.5-3 year old beginner movers. This class will teach them to become familiar with feelings, their bodies, and movements. This will introduce them to basic moves and stretches, coordination, and beginner ballet movements.

Pre-Pointe/Floor Barre: perfect for the dancer whom wants to better their strength and especially pursuing improving their ballet technique! Dancers whom would like to dance en pointe must take this class upon pre-approval. Requirement: Ballet must be taken alongside this class.

Pom: an upbeat class with a combination of the background of jazz technique with Pom technique as well! Dancers will have fun doing pom dance routines with Pom poms! Requirement: either Ballet or Stretch and Technique must be taken alongside this class.

Tumbling: an exciting class for dancers who are looking to find more flexibility in their legs, hips, and back! They will learn tumbling stunts and tasks as well as more stretches to help alongside their dancing! Recommended for ages 7+.

Dance & Tumble: A beginner's class aimed towards 3-6 year olds to learn basic tumbling moves alongside ballet and jazz dance techniques.

Ballet/Jazz/Hip Hop Combo: A combo class aimed at 3-5 year old beginners who want to explore different styles of dance, learning ballet, jazz, and hip hop techniques and choreography!
